| 4c. Food safety, standards and traceability |
| Consumer concerns about safe/secure food and product quality has increased. Countries are promoting the implementation of quality/hygiene standards or regulations agreed to within the context of the HACCP, FAO/WHO Codex Alimentarius Commission and other relevant organizations or arrangements. Regulations on seafood are implemented through the introduction of labeling systems, and/or traceability systems. These approaches insure safety and security of the seafood and insure distribution of quality products to earn consumers' confidence. In this sub-session, recent technology which supports these regulation systems such as the methods for verification of species/product identity (origin) of seafood, and risk assessment of contamination and its elimination technology for poison, toxins, trace elements, allergen, endocrine disrupting chemicals and others will be reported and discussed. |
