2b. Disease problems of aquatic organisms
Disease outbreaks are major management issues in many aquaculture operations. Aquaculturists not only loose their products, but also suffer severe economic losses as a result of disease outbreak. Development of a broad understanding of diseases in aquaculture sites will allow better management to control future outbreaks. Aquatic animal diseases have complicated patterns and variations. Therefore, a discussion on present status of world disease problems and solutions to minimize the negative influence by disease breaks is a first step towards controlling disease outbreaks. This sub-session provides information on various aquatic animal diseases and various management procedures to control disease outbreaks.
