1. Fisheries and Fish Biology
1c. Fish biology
A broad understanding of fisheries biology and life history is necessary to developing and maintaining sustainable fisheries. Knowledge of fish biology and life history allows enhanced precision and accuracy of fish population assessment. An understanding of life-history traits such as survival, growth, and reproduction are required for development of fish population dynamics. In addition, fish feeding habitats, fish behavior and migration patterns are indispensable for analysis of structure and function of commercially important fish populations. This sub-session treats a wide range of fish biology and fish life history.
