Introduction: Eel resource has been presenting a drastic decline in global scale for these decades. To conserve freshwater eels for sustainable utilization, East Asia Eel Resource Consortium (EASEC) has been established among eel researchers, wholesalers, traders and aquaculturists in 1997 to exchange knowledge for better understanding eel problem and making possible action plan. This WFC satellite meeting is planned as an annual meeting of EASEC and adjunct workshop.

Social event: The field excursion will be held at 25th October morning, visiting MISAKI tuna landing port and processing factory.
Introduction: Global tuna consumption is increasing with worldwide expansion of eating fish promoted by the health oriented people and it makes some tuna stocks being decreasing. Recent increasing trend of capturing small size bluefin tuna for aquaculture also makes a new concern on stock management. It is necessary to develop urgently the tuna aquaculture using artificial produced juvenile. In this symposium, participants will discuss how we grow the tuna aquaculture industry and supply safe and reliable tunas continuously to the market.

Introduction: Welcome to the home page for the International Symposium on Seafood Safety, which will be held as a satellite of the 5th World Fisheries Congress WFC2008 on Monday, October 27 at the National Research Institute of Fisheries Science in Yokohama. We would like to extend our sincere appreciation for your enthusiastic participation and valuable presentation of research activities in the field of seafood safety and relevant subjects at the Symposium. The purpose of the symposium is to discuss recent progress in the fields of food safety, such as food safety risk assessment, toxicology, food chemistry and analysis of fish and marine products. It is hoped that the symposium will both encourage international cooperation in these fields and stimulate workers in the world.
