The 5th WFC is offering two 2-day training courses on GIS (Geographical Information Systems) prior to the plenary sessions of the Congress. We invite you to participate in those courses free of charge. |

| Descriptions of the two courses |
|

 |
|
|
|
Participants can select one training course from either of the two courses which will be held on the same dates on October 19 and 20, 2008. |
|
|
| Course A: |
This GIS training course will be conducted using GIS software “Marine Explorer”. Maximum number of participants is 20. |
| Course B: |
This GIS training course will be conducted using GIS software “ArcGIS”. Maximum number of participants is 30. |

The course has a limited number of vacancies and will take a maximum of 20 participants for Course A and 30 participants for Course B. The target applicants are students and young professionals working in fisheries, aquaculture, and marine environment fields who intend to employ GIS skills in future research, monitoring and management of marine and inland resources. REGISTERED participants of the 5th World Fisheries Congress are encouraged to apply. However, in case of over enrollment, the course coordinating committee will give priority to applicants from developing countries, especially upcoming researchers and students. |
